It is our standard of care that all new patients be seen for a new patient comprehensive examination that includes a complete set of x-rays (18 film series), a dental and periodontal exam and an oral cancer screening. After we have gathered all the appropriate information we will know how we need to schedule your periodontal care. What is involved in a new patient exam? We firmly believe in preventative dental care, which is upheld by our thorough ‘new patient’ experience. Our comprehensive oral exam is a two-step process with a follow-up consult. Initially, our new patients spend their first appointment with our Health Relationship Coordinator, Gayla, who gathers the necessary information for your best dental care (i.e. Full-Mouth X-Rays, Models, Intra-Oral Photos, Pictures of the Teeth, etc.). At this first appointment, you will get to meet with Dr. Walgren; however, he spends most of his time with you, the patient, at your second appointment. During this second appointment, Dr.Walgren begins building his relationship with you, while performing a customized dental examination. Before leaving the office at this second appointment, Gayla will schedule you for a consult to discuss any further treatment. This consult is combined with your first round of treatment (i.e. periodontal cleaning with a hygienist, repair of a tooth, etc.). At this consult appointment, Gayla will present you with all further treatment information and schedule your appointments.
Do you take my insurance? We are not preferred providers with any insurance companies; however, we do have an Insurance Administrator on staff that will file your claims and assist in helping you receive your maximum benefits. (insurance)No. For those who need extra help relaxing, pre-medication with antianxiety medications is available. We understand the emotional reaction to dentistry and work with you to see that your stay is comfortable and relaxing. I know I have a cavity. How much will it cost to get it filled? As not all cavities are treated the same, an exam is needed to be able to give you this information. We need to know which tooth is involved, how large the cavity is, if the tooth is bothering you and the type of filling material that will be used. We will give you the financial information for any treatment prior to scheduling the restoration.Does Dr. Walgren work on dentures? Yes. Dr. Walgren does complete dentures, partials, implant-retained dentures and does much of the lab work himself. No. Our hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 12:00 p.m on Friday. Does Dr. Walgren do root canals? Yes, we do most root canal therapy. However, in some cases a referral to a specialist is needed. Does Dr. Walgren do orthodontics and oral surgery? Dr. Walgren believes that orthodontics and complicated oral surgery should be done by a trained specialist. Does Dr. Walgren see children and at what age should I start bringing my child? Yes. We recommend at any time a parent has a concern about their child dental health that an exam be scheduled to address those concerns. We start seeing children for routine care between the ages of 3-4 years of age. Does Dr. Walgren do implants? We do not place implants, however, we work closely with trained specialists who do place them. After the implant is surgically placed our patients are referred back to our office to be restored. |
